The Ukrposhta joint-stock company plans to enter into an agreement with the United States Postal Service (USPS), this agreement will open the possibility for delivery of goods to Ukrainians from Amazon and other large marketplaces.
This was announced by the company's director general Ihor Smilianskyi in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I just returned from the USA and I can assure you that we are in very active negotiations with the USPS (the US Postal Service, which provides mail processing and delivery services to individuals and legal entities within the country and abroad). As soon as we manage to conclude an agreement, Amazon will be opened for Ukraine," he said.
Smilianskyi clarified that Ukrposhta has already reached an agreement with USPS regarding small packages, and plans to reach an agreement regarding parcels by January 1.
"I would like this agreement to be operational in 2025. Ideally, of course, it would be good to conclude this agreement in November, so that it would be possible to prepare technologically. Therefore, there are such plans, and work in this direction continues. But, as in any negotiations, the signature under the document will put an end and define the term... If we sign an agreement with the USPS, then all the big marketplaces that are not available yet will appear. USPS works with all of them," he said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in June 2022, Ukrposhta opened its store on Amazon.
