It was planned to release the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, and to divide the Defense Intelligence itself and distribute its individual units among other units, but this plan has not been implemented so far.
This is reported by NV with reference to a source in the law enforcement agencies.
Thus, the publication's interlocutor confirmed that the attempt to dismiss the head of the Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov really took place, after which it was planned to divide Defense Intelligence and take away several important functions from it.
Thus, according to the plan, it was initially planned to take away from the Defense Intelligence the function of managing military attachés attached to embassies or diplomatic missions for the purpose of monitoring military issues arising in the process of interstate relations. This, according to the NV source, would deprive the Defense Intelligence of some of its international influence. It was also planned to separate from military intelligence all special units performing operations on the front line and subordinate them to other structures.
According to the NV source, for now all this "has been defended, but there will be a second round." At the same time, the editor's interlocutor did not specify the names of the officials who tried to release Budanov and weaken the potential of the Defense Intelligence.
