Russia launches 140 missile strikes at Ukrhydroenergo facilities, damages exceed several billion dollars

The russian occupiers have launched more than 140 missile attacks on the facilities of the Ukrhydroenergo power generation company, while the company's total losses from russian aggression exceed several billion dollars.

This is stated in the company's message, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The destruction of the Kakhovka HEPP led to the loss of 335 MW of renewable energy capacity, as well as to the deterioration of water supply in the region. In particular, 94% of irrigation systems were lost in the Kherson Region, 74% in the Zaporizhzhia Region, and 30% in the Dnipropetrovsk Region. The total loss is 18 billion cubic meters of water, which is equivalent to two years of water supply for Ukraine," said the head of the supervisory board of Ukrhydroenergo Valentyn Hvozdii during the meeting of the Economic and Environmental Committee of the OSCE.

He noted that the total damage from missile strikes exceeds several billion dollars.

At the same time, the company is forced to change its development plans and focus on strengthening infrastructure security, using the experience of South Korea and Japan, which also faced aggression from neighboring countries.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in June Ukrhydroenergo filed a lawsuit against the russian federation for compensation of USD 2.5 billion in damages caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka HEPP.

On March 22, russian troops launched a missile attack on the Dnipro Hydroelectric Station (Zaporizhzhia), causing damage to both stations and the dam.

Ukrhydroenergo includes Kyiv HEPP, Kyiv PHES, Kaniv HEPP, Kremenchuk HEPP, Seredniodniprovska HEPP, Dnipro HEPP, Dniester HEPP, Dniester PHES and Kakhovka HEPP.
