Losses of the aggressor state russia experienced a record average daily value in September 2024, which is associated with the expansion of the combat zone due to the Kharkiv and Kursk military operations, as well as an increase in the intensity of combat operations.
The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom has announced this.
Thus, in September 2024, the average daily losses of russian troops (killed and wounded) in Ukraine reached a new monthly maximum for the entire war. The average daily casualty rate was 1,271 people per day, compared to the war's previous monthly high of 1,262 people recorded in May 2024, according to a report by the Ukrainian General Staff. Since the beginning of the conflict, russia has probably suffered more than 648,000 casualties.
"The increase in the casualty rate since May 2024 is almost certainly due to the expansion of the combat zone to include both Kharkiv and Kursk military operations, and increased intensity along the frontline. Russian forces highly likely continue to stretch Ukrainian forces by utilising mass to overwhelm defensive positions and achieve tactical gains," the message reads.
It indicates that by the end of 2024, despite the onset of winter, the average number of russian military casualties will likely continue to exceed 1,000 per day. To date, the winter conditions have not resulted in reduced offensive operations or reduced casualties due to russia's reliance on amphibious tactics and the lack of maneuverable warfare that requires better conditions.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the General Staff, the Ukrainian military destroyed 1,160 russian invaders in a day. The total combat losses of the russian federation from February 24, 2022 to October 7, 2024 are approximately 661,630 people.
