"The plane that overtook the second was powered by 2 jet engines, the one that crashed was powered by one and had full tanks," a Ukrainian military officer said.

This explains its appearance behind the front line and the hasty actions of the fighter jet, which launched an air-to-air missile at an already uncontrolled drone.

Work on the Okhotnik program has been carried out at the russian DKB Sukhoi since 2011. The drone is built according to the "flying wing" scheme.

According to the developers' plans, the UAV will be used to strike enemy targets without entering the range of its air defense systems of manned aircraft.

According to unconfirmed data, the flight range of the russian aircraft will be about 6,000 kilometers.
