An external independent audit of the activities of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) has begun.

The NACB press service has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

It is noted that NAC Director Semen Kryvonos and members of the Commission for External Independent Assessment (Audit) of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau's performance discussed the period of the NACB work evaluation, its importance, key principles and approaches.

The audit commission includes experts on security, anti-corruption, asset recovery and audit, appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at the request of international organizations that provide technical assistance in the field of prevention and countering corruption.

During the meeting, Kryvonos emphasized the importance of the NACB audit and readiness to provide maximum support for openness, transparency and efficiency of its conduct.

An external independent assessment (audit) of the effectiveness of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau is provided for by the Law of Ukraine "On the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine" and is an important criterion in the context of Ukraine receiving international financial aid and becoming a member of the European Union.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed three international experts as auditors of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
