By the end of 2024, 1.5 million drones will be produced in Ukraine.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated this at a government meeting on Tuesday, October 1, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"In 2023, the production of weapons in Ukraine has tripled. Every second ammunition in the combat zone is Ukrainian. By the end of the year, we will produce 1.5 million drones," he said.
Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine not only produces drones, but also trains personnel to operate them.
According to him, the government launched an experimental project on the certification of schools of UAV operators, sets clear requirements for these schools and unifies the educational process.
Therefore, it will be easier for trained drone operators to obtain the appropriate military accounting specialty.
Shmyhal also said that Ukraine continues the implementation of its own missile program, begins to produce significant volumes of artillery systems and armored vehicles, for this it establishes joint production with partners, and also attracts funds from partners to purchase weapons for Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in December 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that in 2024 Ukraine would produce 1 million drones.
