Law enforcers detain official of Energoatom while receiving UAH 100,000 bribe

Prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) exposed an official of the Energoatom national nuclear energy generating company for receiving UAH 100,000 of illegal benefits.

This is stated in the message of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the investigation, a representative of a private company approached an Energoatom official with a request for help in receiving payment from one of the mining and processing plants under the contract concluded in December 2022.

"The official promised to solve this issue with the plant's management for UAH 100,000. In the event of non-payment of money, he stated that he would ensure that the concluded contract was not paid under any circumstances. So the entrepreneur was forced to agree to these conditions. The law enforcement officers detained an employee of Energoatom during receiving money in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Currently, he has been notified of the suspicion of obtaining an illegal benefit for himself for influencing the decision-making by a person authorized to perform the functions of the state, combined with the demand for such a benefit (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)" the message says.
