David Lammy, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairsof the United Kingdom, expects that the lifting of restrictions on striking Western weapons deep into the aggressor state of the russian federation will be accepted before the beginning of winter.
He said this in an interview with Voice of America.
"We are meeting here at the UN General Assembly. I know that President Zelenskyy is meeting with President Biden in Washington. There is also a G20 meeting coming up. I expect that in the coming days and weeks we will be in a very strong position to provide Ukraine with everything it needs, as we approach this harsh winter of 2025," Lammy said.
In addition, according to him, British intelligence data indicate that the situation for vladimir putin will become much more difficult next year.
"His economy is in a bad state. It will be very difficult for him to cope with the number of losses and victims he has suffered," said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
In addition, Lammy noted the successes of Ukraine, paying attention to the successes in the Black Sea, as well as the operation of the Armed Forces in the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation.
"It has already managed to win back half of the captured lands. It has already managed to knock Putin out of the Black Sea. It has gone on the offensive in the Kursk Oblast and, I hope, will hold these positions. In fact, now is the moment, because we are moving from autumn to winter, when the West must demonstrate its courage and absolute dedication," he stressed.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, this week President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to discuss with U.S. President Joseph Biden the permission to strike with Western weapons deep into the territory of the aggressor state of russia.
Meanwhile, Lammy bluntly accused russian dictator vladimir putin of running a "mafia state" and likened him to a slave owner in a fiery speech at the UN Security Council. Lammy's speech came as Ukraine continues its intense lobbying efforts to obtain permission to use Western missiles, including Britain's Storm Shadow, to strike targets deep in russia. Currently, they can be deployed only on the territory of Ukraine. The UK supports their use, but U.S. support is needed.
