Fake Kuleba calls US senator and asks about long-range weapons - media

An unknown person, disguised as the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, called the chairman of the US Committee on Foreign Affairs, Ben Cardin, and asked about sensitive issues related to russia and Ukraine. In particular, about strikes with long-range weapons.

The New York Times writes about it.

The incident happened on September 19. The senator's office received an email allegedly from Dmytro Kuleba asking to speak with him via Zoom.

The conversation took place, and the man looked and spoke just like Kuleba. However, the interlocutor began to ask "politically motivated questions about the upcoming election." In particular, he was interested in whether the senator supports strikes against russia with long-range weapons. This confused the senator and he ended the conversation.

It is not yet clear who exactly called Ben Cardin. US intelligence has warned that China, Iran and russia could use artificial intelligence and deepfakes to interfere in US election.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, russia created more artificial intelligence content to influence the US presidential election than any other foreign country as part of its broader effort to support Republican candidate Donald Trump over Democrat Kamala Harris.

Pranksters Lexus and Vovan, linked to the russian FSB, called former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson under the guise of journalists. The politician spoke about his support for Ukraine and called for the destruction of the Crimea bridge with ATACMS missiles.
