President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the USA for the decision to provide defense aid to Ukraine in the total amount of USD 7.9 billion and the introduction of additional sanctions against russia.
Zelenskyy announced this in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I am grateful to US President Joseph Biden, the US Congress and both parties, Republicans and Democrats, as well as the entire American people for today's announcement of significant defense assistance to Ukraine totaling USD 7.9 billion and the imposition of sanctions against russia. On behalf of the Ukrainian people and our brave soldiers on the front lines, I thank our closest ally, the United States, for finding a way to allocate the remaining security assistance to Ukraine and ensure that the President's term does not expire before the end of the fiscal year in the United States," he wrote.
Zelenskyy assured that Ukraine will use this aid in the most effective and transparent way to achieve the main common goal: the victory of Ukraine, a just and lasting peace and transatlantic security.
He also thanked the US for providing an additional Patriot air defense battery and other means of air defense and interceptors, drones, long-range missiles and air-to-ground munitions, as well as funds for strengthening Ukraine's defense and industrial base.
Zelenskyy also noted that he appreciates the decision to expand programs to train more Ukrainian pilots to fly the F-16, as well as the strong sanctions introduced to further limit russia's ability to finance its aggression against Ukraine.
He emphasized that Ukraine and the United States remain close allies committed to protecting freedom, human life, and common security in Europe and beyond, adding that Ukraine has always appreciated the strong bipartisan support in the United States and among Americans for Ukraine's just cause of defeating the russian aggression.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier the US Department of Defense announced the provision of a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth USD 375 million.
On September 26, Zelenskyy intends to present the plan for the victory of Ukraine to the US President Joseph Biden, as well as to pass this plan to the US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
At the same time, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, addressed a statement to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, demanding the immediate dismissal of Ukraine's Ambassador to the US, Oksana Markarova, due to alleged interference in the US election.
Trump said that he has no scheduled meetings with Zelenskyy in the near future.
