Nyzhankovychi checkpoint on Ukrainian-Polish border will stop working from October 1

From October 1 this year, the Nyzhankovychi checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border will cease to operate.

The State Customs Service of Ukraine has said this in a statement on its Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"In order to prepare for the opening of the Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice checkpoint, from October 1, 2024, the implementation of customs formalities and the passage of vehicles in both directions will be stopped at the Nyzhankovychi border section (Customs Department No. 5 of the customs post Smilnytsia)," the message says.

The State Customs Service reminds that the indicated section of the border is intended for the passage of empty commercial vehicles with a total weight of more than 7.5 tons, with the exception of vehicles that move dangerous substances and cars purchased abroad, which are imported into Ukraine for release into free circulation.

The Polish side plans to complete the construction of the Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice checkpoint by the end of 2024.

This project preliminarily provides lanes for light vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons.

The future checkpoint will be in the Sambir District (kilometer zero of the road T14-18 Nyzhankovychi - Sambir, Drohobych - Stryi).

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 20, the State Border Guard Service warned of a possible complication of traffic at the Korczowa - Krakovets checkpoint on the border with Poland due to the replacement of the asphalt surface.

According to information from the Polish side, starting from September 23, the replacement of the asphalt surface within the Korczowa checkpoint in the direction of entry into the Republic of Poland (exit from Ukraine) in the registration area for cargo vehicles is planned, which may cause traffic complications and longer waiting times.

Tentatively, the work will continue until the beginning of November 2024.
