Ukraine exports almost 700,000 tons of sugar in 2023/24MY

Ukraine exported 691,000 tons of sugar in the 2023/24 marketing year (September 2023-August 2024).

This is stated in the message of the Ukrsugar association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to the report, 77% of sugar was sent to EU countries, 23% - to the world market.

The main importers of Ukrainian sugar to the EU are Italy, whose share in the export of Ukrainian sugar to the EU was 19%, Bulgaria (18%) and Hungary (14%).

At the same time, the main export destinations outside the EU are Cameroon (17% of exports to the world market), Libya (15%) and Turkey (11%).

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food is forecasting an 11% increase in sugar production to 1.6 million tons in the 2024/2025 marketing year (September 2024 - August 2025) compared to the previous marketing year.

In the 2023/24 marketing year, Ukraine produced about 1.8 million tons of sugar.

On July 2, due to the exceeding of quotas, the European Union returned the customs duty on Ukrainian eggs and sugar.
