Farmers plan to sow 4.5-5 million hectares with winter wheat - Agrarian Policy Ministry

Agricultural enterprises plan to sow winter wheat on an area of 4.5-5 million hectares for the 2025 harvest.

Taras Vysotskyi, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, announced this on the air of Suspilne, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Winter wheat is now being sown, but it is not yet active, because there is a drought in many regions. We are only at the start of the sowing campaign in terms of volumes. At the same time, in the western regions, in Odesa, the precipitation has passed, accordingly, favorable conditions are being created for the sowing of winter wheat crops, in particular wheat. The optimal window for sowing winter wheat is until the middle of October, and perhaps until the end of October. Taking into account these factors, the plans for sowing winter wheat are not reduced, and the range from 4.5 million hectares to 5 million hectares remains relevant. Then everything will depend on weather factors," said Vysotskyi.

He expressed hope that the weather will allow these plans to be implemented.
