The russian occupiers shelled civilian energy infrastructure in the Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy and Chernihiv Regions.
The Ministry of Energy has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"In the Sumy Region, substations were turned off during the air strike. One substation caught fire as a result of a missile-drone attack, cutting off power to more than 281,000 consumers in 601 settlements, as well as industrial enterprises in two regions. Currently, the power supply has been partially restored," the message says.
According to the report, a substation, household consumers and a mine were cut off due to shelling in the Donetsk Region, and there were no people in the mine at the time of the incident.
In the Cherkasy Region, as a result of the fall of the UAV debris, the overhead line was disconnected, power was cut off at substations, household consumers had power off; power has now been restored.
At the same time, in the Chernihiv Region due to missile attacks, overhead lines were disconnected, in total more than 2,000 consumers in 22 settlements were cut off; power supply has been partially restored at the moment.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Tuesday, September 17, the Sumy Region suffered a massive airstrike aimed at the energy system.
Ukraine has lost more than 9 GW of capacity since the end of March due to russian shelling.
Russian occupiers also seized 18 GW of Ukrainian generation.
