Russia fails idea of a humanitarian corridor for civilians under occupation - Ambassador Bodnar

Last year, Ukraine, Turkey and the aggressor country of russia worked to create a humanitarian corridor for civilians who are in temporarily occupied territories. However, Moscow thwarted this idea.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar, said this in an interview with the publication RBC-Ukraine.

"Last year, the idea of creating a so-called humanitarian corridor was worked out, which would allow certain categories of Ukrainian citizens detained by the occupiers to return home through Turkey. Unfortunately, the russian side, which initially agreed to this, then, on the instructions of the Ministry of Defense (of russia - ed.), refused of this idea," Bodnar said.

In addition, the Ambassador emphasized that the Ukrainian and Turkish sides continue to work in this direction.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed Turkey's unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and emphasized the constant support for the rights of the Crimean Tatars.

Also, Turkey has officially submitted an application to join the BRICS group of countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and the Republic of South Africa) due to the lack of progress in joining the European Union.
