Russian State Duma calls for detonating nuclear bomb in russia so that "mankind thinks"

Many foreign politicians have begun to forget the threat posed by nuclear weapons, and russia should remind the world of this danger. Such an opinion was expressed by Andrey Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma of the terrorist country of the russian federation from the United russia, proposing to detonate a nuclear bomb on the territory of the russian federation.

"We should not relax. We need to make a nuclear explosion somewhere, at some test site. We currently have a ban on nuclear tests, but maybe people should see what it all actually leads to, should hear. If the moratorium is lifted, maybe humanity will think," said Kolesnik in a conversation with Lenta.ru, reflecting on the fact that Ukraine allegedly intends to use a "dirty bomb".

At the same time, the Duma member lamented that, in his opinion, the world has forgotten about the tragedies in Chornobyl and Hiroshima and how destructive everything related to nuclear weapons can be.

In mid-August, the russian propaganda agency RIA Novosti, citing an anonymous source, spread information about the alleged preparation of an attack by Ukraine on nuclear power plants in Kurchatov and Enerhodar. These data were soon confirmed by other information sources and some russian officials.

In response, Ukraine accused russia of spreading false information and reminded of its commitment to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Moscow has made similar accusations before, especially against the background of the successes of the Ukrainian army, as it was in the fall of 2022 during the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Kharkiv.

The idea of using nuclear weapons for the purpose of intimidation sounded in russia before. In January 2023, a senior researcher at the Academy of Military Sciences, military analyst Vladimir Prokhvatilov suggested that the resumption of nuclear tests could force NATO countries to stop supplying arms to Ukraine, and Kyiv to abandon the idea of returning Crimea.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Sergey Karaganov, an adviser to the administration of the president of the russian federation, while considering the invasion of the Kursk Oblast by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, proposed to launch nuclear strikes on Ukrainian troops and attack Berlin, noting that russia has the right to respond with nuclear weapons to the seizure of its territory.

Dmitry Medvedev, the former president of russia, became one of the main voices of nuclear rhetoric after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Regularly threatening strikes on London, Paris and Washington through his Telegram channel, Medvedev declared that the use of nuclear weapons was not a bluff. However, after the beginning of the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk Oblast, he suddenly softened his statements, calling only to "go to Odesa, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv", without mentioning nuclear strikes.
