During yesterday’s exchange, 15 Azov residents who spent more than 2 years in captivity returned to Ukraine. Currently, more than 900 Azov fighters remain in russian captivity.
The 12th Special Purpose Brigade ‘Azov’ of the National Guard of Ukraine has reported this on Telegram.
"Today, another exchange of prisoners of war took place. For the first time in more than a year, Azov fighters returned from captivity. 4 brothers and 11 sisters spent more than two years in captivity and met their relatives today," the message reads.
The Brigade expressed its gratitude to all those who made efforts for the Azov fighters to return home and emphasized that their return is the biggest motivation for every fighter of the Brigade, which is currently holding the defense line in one of the most difficult directions.
"Today, more than 900 Azov fighters remain in captivity. We will fight for each of them, remember everyone and return everyone to their native land," Azov added.
They also hope to systematize the process of release from captivity of servicemen of the 12th ‘Azov’ Brigade.
"We believe that we will continue to see our brothers and sisters in future exchanges," the message added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, an exchange of prisoners took place yesterday: 49 Ukrainian men and women returned home.
Also, among the 49 people who returned yesterday as a result of the exchange of prisoners, 23 are women. For a long time, russia did not include women at all in lists for exchange.
