The Netherlands has handed Ukraine a radar station for the MIM-104 Patriot anti-aircraft missile complex. In the near future, the country will also deliver three launchers of this air defense system.
The corresponding statement was made by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans, his words are quoted by De Gelderlander.
The publication notes that in the spring of this year, the country's former Minister of Defense Kajsa Ollongren announced her intention to provide Ukraine with a full-fledged Patriot air defense system.
At the time, she said that the Netherlands had the basic systems ready, other countries had to provide the rest.
It later said the Netherlands had assembled the necessary components for the full Patriot system and would provide the radar and three launchers themselves.
This week, that story proved to be untrue.
Brekelmans said that the Netherlands recently handed Ukraine a radar for the Patriot air defense system. The launchers will be transferred later.
He added that other countries are still looking for components to transfer the complete system.
"We're still working on it. We're still in talks with several partners about it," Brekelmans said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Romania presented a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. This became known during the visit of the country's president, Klaus Iohannis, to Kyiv on September 5.
We will remind, in July of this year, Germany transferred a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. It became the third complex that Berlin provided to Kyiv since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation.
We also reported that the U.S. and Japan faced difficulties in the production of interceptor missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.
