Ukrainian pilots began training on the F-16s in Romania.
This was reported by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umierov, on Facebook.
"I had a fruitful telephone conversation with the Minister of Defense of Romania Angel Tîlvăr. The key topic is strengthening the protection of Ukrainian skies against russian missiles and drones," he wrote.
According to him, Ukraine will soon receive a new Patriot air defense system from its Romanian partners.
"There will be more F-16s in Ukrainian skies too: a group of our pilots is already undergoing training in Romania. I thanked my Romanian colleague, the people and the government of his country for supporting and strengthening our air defense. We agreed to continue cooperation. I am planning my visit to Romania," he added.
We will remind, on August 29, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the loss of the first F-16 fighter in Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on August 29, MP Maryana Bezuhla stated that the F-16 was shot down by the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.
At the same time, American and Ukrainian investigators do not consider "friendly fire" to be the cause of the downing of the fighter.
