The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) company and the Moldovan operator of the GTS Vestmoldtransgaz (VMTG) are working on increasing the guaranteed capacities for transporting gas along the Trans-Balkan route towards Ukraine to at least 7 million cubic meters per day.
This is stated in the message of GTSOU, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Our short-term goal is to create 7 million cubic meters of guaranteed capacity at one of the interstate points by April 2025. To do this, both GTS operators must carry out the reconstruction of several facilities along the route," said Andrii Prokofyev, head of the customer relations department of GTSOU.
According to the report, the companies have already implemented the first stage - 1 million cubic meters of guaranteed daily capacity were created in the direction of Ukraine.
This stage did not require significant investments from GTSOU or Vestmoldtransgaz, and from September 1, 2024, these capacities are already being used to transport gas to Ukraine.
It is noted that in the medium term it is possible to increase the capacity to more than 7 million cubic meters per day, since the infrastructure of the Trans-Balkan pipeline has already been built and further capacity increase will require only the increase of reverse capabilities along the route.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in late September 2022, Moldova started a virtual gas reverse to Ukraine.
