Scale of russian counterattack in Kursk Oblast not clear - ISW

On September 10, russian troops launched counterattacks in the Kursk Oblast, but their scale and prospects are still unclear, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said in a report.

According to ISW, the situation in the region remains unstable, and it is too early to draw conclusions about new offensives. Geolocation footage shows that on September 11, the russians regained positions east of Zhuravli, and units of the 51st Airborne Regiment advanced north and northeast of Snagost.

Russian military bloggers claim that russian forces have captured Snagost and advanced in the area of several settlements, but ISW has not received confirmation of these claims.

Analysts also note that russia can use experienced units for counterattacks, but the effectiveness of these operations remains in question due to repeated losses and recovery of military units.

It is not clear whether the russians have enough forces to dislodge the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Kursk Oblast, since only parts of the units are active in the region. There are also doubts as to whether the current grouping of russian troops will be able to succeed in the region.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier the heads of the CIA and MI-6 assessed the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast.

Meanwhile, russian propaganda Telegram channels announced on Wednesday, September 11, that the army of the aggressor country of russia has launched a counteroffensive in the Kursk Oblast.
