The russian occupiers shot three servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, who laid down their weapons and surrendered. The incident took place on one of the sections of the front in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk Region.

It was reported by the press service of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The prosecutor's office has started a pre-trial investigation into the killing of three servicemen of the Armed Forces, who were shot by the occupiers after they laid down their arms.

It is known that the russians attacked one of the positions of the Armed Forces using an unmanned aerial vehicle. With its help, they dropped an incendiary projectile, causing a fire. The occupiers took advantage of this, bypassing the position from three sides.

As a result of the subsequent combat clash, one of the four servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the position received serious injuries. Other Ukrainian fighters decided to surrender.

The servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine left the occupied shelter and knelt down, holding their hands behind their heads. After that, the occupiers opened fire on them.

The prosecutor's office added that the fate of the fourth serviceman of the Armed Forces, who was seriously wounded, is still being clarified.

The agency reminded that the killing of prisoners of war is a violation of the Geneva Convention and is classified as a war crime.

Based on this fact, a pre-trial investigation was started under Part 2 of Art. 438 (Violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, earlier today, on September 6, the American CNN channel published a video with previously unknown facts of the killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

Recall that Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, appealed to the UN and the Red Cross through a video of the shooting of Ukrainian soldiers.
