The military 12th brigade of special purpose "Azov" returned under control part of the village of New York in the Donetsk Region, and also unblocked the Defense Forces, which were surrounded.
This is announced in the statement of "Azov" in the Telegram channel.
It is reported that in order to improve the tactical situation in the Toretsk Axis, the 12th brigade was involved in the defense and offensive in the settlement of New York and its surroundings.
"At the time of the brigade's involvement in hostilities in the Axis, the situation on the battle line was catastrophic. But thanks to the high morale, courage and professionalism of the brigade's fighters, "Azov" managed to stabilize the situation, regain control of part of New York and unblock the Defense Forces, who were in a hostile environment," “Azov” reported.
The situation remains tense: the russians conduct up to 15 assaults a day in the brigade's area of responsibility. It is noted that despite the heavy fighting, the fighters are holding the defense and successfully counterattacking.
Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, denied the russians' statement about their alleged capture of New York in the Donetsk Region.
It will be recalled that on August 29, the officer of the special purpose brigade "Azov" of the National Guard of Ukraine, Roman Ponomarenko, stated that the situation in the Donetsk Region looks like the situation at the front is out of the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
