Today, September 2, the Government of Romania approved the bill, which allows the free transfer of a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, and sent it to the parliament for a final vote.
This is reported by Reuters.
In June, Bucharest said it would hand over one of its two operational Patriots to Ukraine on the condition that the allies replace it with a similar air defense system.
The "Romanian" Patriot is part of the supply of five such systems and other strategic means of air defense that NATO countries have pledged to provide to Ukraine.
"After the parliament passes the law, the government will be able to approve a decision that will make this aid real," said Romanian government spokesman Mihai Constantin.
Recall that earlier President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that to completely close the skies of Ukraine, it is necessary to have 25 Patriot systems. At the same time, he noted that for the protection of the sky, this is not the only system that Ukraine needs, but it is the most powerful.
