Ukraine has accumulated a huge supply of energy equipment with the help of Western donors. Every month, the country receives many more transformers than it can theoretically lose from the attacks of the aggressor country russia.
The head of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, stated this in an interview with the BBC, which was recorded on August 22, before the large-scale shelling of Ukraine's energy system on August 26.
Kudrytskyi said that the restrictions on electricity supply in Ukraine are not catastrophic and will not affect the front and defense of Ukraine and will not bring the state to its knees. According to him, there may be difficulties in the energy sector in winter, but they will not cause a humanitarian catastrophe.
"We have accumulated a huge stockpile of equipment with the help of Western donors. And today, many more transformers come to us every month than we can theoretically lose from attacks. Today we also have engineering protection of our facilities, specifically at the facilities of Ukrenergo. These are the only objects of critical infrastructure where there is such protection that can withstand a direct hit, for example, Shaheds," Kudrytskyi emphasized.
The head of Ukrenergo emphasized that the company has learned to counteract the aggressor's tactics and knows how to balance the energy system for further work.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 26, 15 regions were affected by a massive russian attack.
Ukrenergo announced that plans for preparing for winter will have to be adjusted due to the attack on the energy sector.
The attack of the aggressor country russia on the energy facilities of Ukraine on August 26 was the largest since the beginning of the full-scale war.
