Poland will not shoot down russian drones on its territory - Prime Minister Tusk

Poland still has no confirmation that a russian drone flew into the country on August 26. Allies recommend being cautious when it comes to shooting down unknown objects, unless they pose a threat.

This was stated by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the Polish publication Rzeczpospolita reported on Wednesday, August 28.

Tusk noted that Poland still does not have confirmation of whether a drone flew over Poland on August 26, and the consent to shoot down such an object in peacetime must be given by operational commander General Maciej Klisz. According to Tusk, the case with the drone is most likely an "incident" because "there is still no confirmation."

"Almost 400 soldiers are looking for any traces of a drone or two drones 24 hours a day, as some say, but so far there is no 100% certainty that they invaded Polish airspace. We don't know whose they were. If there were any," the Prime Minister said.

Tusk also emphasized that the allies recommend being "restrained" when it comes to shooting at unidentified aerial objects, "if there is no threat, if it is not aggression." The Prime Minister of Poland noted that the military has a balanced position, they "are not interested in opening fire every time something moves in the sky.”

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Armed Forces of Poland did not shoot down the aerial object that flew from the territory of Ukraine on August 26 due to weather conditions.

It will be recalled that on the morning of August 26, Poland raised its aircraft to the sky due to a massive russian missile attack across Ukraine.
