President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assigned the rank of general on the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
This is stated in the decree of the Head of State, the text of which is posted on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
"To assign the military rank of general to Colonel-General Oleksandr Stanislavovych Syrskyi - Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the document states.
The relevant decree No. 580 is dated August 23, 2024. Prior to that, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had the military rank of colonel general.
The President awarded the military rank of Major General to Brigadier General Andrii Hnatov, the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, the military rank of Lieutenant General was assigned to Major General Anatolii Barhylevych, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Volodymyr Horbatiuk, was assigned the rank of Major General.
The head of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksandr Komarenko, was assigned the rank of Major General.
The commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Volodymyr Karpenuk, was assigned the rank of Major General.
The head of the Administration of the State Special Service of Transport, Brigadier General Oleksandr Yakovets, was awarded the rank of Major General.
