This is indicated in the joint statement of Ukraine and India following the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ukraine, which was published on the President's website, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Both leaders expressed their mutual interest in working towards elevating bilateral relations from a comprehensive partnership to a strategic partnership in the future. They reaffirmed their commitment to further developing bilateral ties for the benefit of the peoples of both countries based on mutual trust, respect, and openness," the document said.

It is also noted that the Indian side has confirmed its principled position and focus on a peaceful settlement through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Ukrainian side also emphasized that the joint communique on the foundations of peace, adopted at the Peace Summit in Switzerland in June, can serve as a basis for further efforts to establish a just peace based on dialogue, diplomacy and international law.

Modi is said to have stressed the need for sincere and practical engagement between all parties to develop innovative solutions that will be widely accepted and contribute to the speedy restoration of peace.
