Zaporizhzhia NPP again on verge of blackout due to russian shelling – Energoatom

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (Zaporizhzhia NPP) once again got on the verge of blackout due to russian shelling.

This is reported by Energoatom.

On Thursday, August 22, due to russian shelling, the external overhead line PL-330kV "Zaporizhzhia TPP - Ferosplavna" was damaged. Through it, the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP received power from the Ukrainian power system to meet its own needs.

Currently, the Zaporizhzhia NPP is connected to the Ukrainian power system by only one power transmission line PL-750kV "Dniprovska”.

Energoatom emphasizes that in the event of its damage, an emergency situation will arise due to the loss of external power to the pumps that cool the active zones of the reactors and fuel storage pools of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Ukrainian energy experts emphasize that under the "management" of the russian invaders it is impossible to ensure trouble-free operation of the station.

"The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant must immediately come under the full control of Ukraine, its legal operator - Energoatom, and Russia must withdraw its military personnel and military equipment from the plant. This is the only way to restore the nuclear and radiation safety of the entire continent," the message reads.

Recall that the russian federation started talking about Ukraine's preparation for strikes on the Kursk and Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plants. The Center for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC considers it possible that the russians may stage a terrorist attack.
