The railway ferry of the russian occupiers "Conro Trader", which sank in the port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar Krai of the aggressor country of the russian federation on August 22, was destroyed by the Naval Forces of Ukraine.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk has stated this on Radio Svoboda.
Pletenchuk also confirmed that the vessel sank after being hit.
"We can confirm the information that this target was destroyed by the Naval Forces. This ferry is one of the important chains of Russian military logistics to provide the occupation forces, primarily with fuel and lubricants, but in addition, of course, it carried and weapons. Therefore, this is a completely legitimate goal. And, accordingly, it should reduce the potential of our enemy in those locations where they are conducting active operations," he said.
Yet, the spokesman of the Navy did not specify what the Conro Trader was exactly hit with.
Pletenchuk states that the "double bonus" of this operation is the fact that, as a result of the attack, the operation of the russian port is partially blocked - until the affected ship is removed from the berth. According to him, the other two railway ferries in this port are not working: one of them is under repair, and the other, which was damaged earlier, Slovyanin, is waiting for repair in the Sea of Azov.
"The ferry sank. That is, the operation of this part of the port is actually blocked. That is, they have one more platform for loading wagons onto the ferry. However, there are no ferries. That is the problem. So, it is for a good reason that local residents in the occupied Ukrainian Crimea immediately reacted by mass visits to gas stations," said the spokesman of the Navy.
He also said that the attack on the Conro Trader was carried out in cooperation with other branches of the Defense Forces.
"This is the joint work of many components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. By the way, this case also took place with the help of our colleagues from other types of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Such operations are complex. They are usually carried out with the involvement of many components. The direct damage was inflicted by the Naval Forces But, of course, the help of our colleagues is just as important to us," added Pletenchuk.
