Borrell supports lifting of restrictions from Ukraine regarding strikes against russia

The lifting of restrictions on Ukraine's use of Western weapons against the russian military in accordance with international law will help "advance peace efforts."

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell wrote about this on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, August 21.

According to him, the lifting of restrictions on the use of forces and means against the russian occupiers would have several important consequences, including stopping the bombing of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure facilities by strengthening Ukraine's self-defense.

Borrell also noted that this will help save lives and reduce destruction in Ukraine, as well as help advance peace efforts.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 13, Josep Borrell stated that the European Union fully supports Ukraine's actions in the Kursk Oblast of russia.

On August 13, the U.S. Department of State commented on Ukraine's actions in the Kursk Oblast.

On August 7, the spokesperson of the European Commission on Foreign Affairs, Peter Stano, stated that Ukraine has a legal right to defend itself, including by "hitting an aggressor on its territory."
