Half-siblings of fallen soldiers granted deferment from mobilization

The Verkhovna Rada has granted a deferment to half-brothers and half-sisters of fallen and missing soldiers.

A total of 310 parliamentarians voted for bill No. 11391 as a whole, with the minimum required 226.

The co-chair of the European Solidarity faction in the parliament, Iryna Herashchenko, announced this on her Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

It is proposed to provide a deferment from mobilization for half-brothers and half-sisters of fallen and missing soldiers, not only for full siblings.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 29, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada exempted from mobilization people whose close relatives were killed or went missing during the war.

Earlier it was reported that the Cabinet of Ministers has simplified the granting of a deferment from mobilization for those caring for the sick or persons with disabilities.

In addition, the Verkhovna Rada wants to correct a conflict in the legislation that allows the mobilization of sick men under the age of 25.
