Overnight into August 21, the russian occupiers struck Ukraine with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Voronezh Oblast, an Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air missile from the airspace of the Kursk Oblast, and 69 Shahed type UAVs (launch areas - Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Yeysk, Kursk - the aggressor country of the russian federation).
This was announced by the commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, in his Telegram channel.
In total, 72 air targets were detected and accompanied by the Air Force's radio engineering troops.
The air attack of the enemy was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, radio-electronic warfare units of the Air Force and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 51 aerial targets were shot down: one Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air missile and 50 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs within the borders of the Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy and Chernihiv Regions.

Another 16 enemy UAVs were lost in location - they probably fell under the influence of radio-electronic means of countermeasures. The information is being clarified.
In addition, according to Oleshchuk, an enemy strike drone crossed the state border with the Republic of Belarus in the Chernihiv Region, and another russian UAV returned "home" to the Belgorod Oblast.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, overnight into August 21, an air alert was declared three times in Kyiv, first because of the threat of ballistic weapons, and later because of enemy drones.
