Defense Ministry approves delivery of Swedish armored personnel carrier with aircraft cannon to AFU

The Ministry of Defense approved the delivery of the Swedish PbV 302 armored personnel carrier with an aircraft cannon to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The tracked combat vehicle was developed by Hägglund & Söner. This armored vehicle, which was in service with the Swedish army until 2014, was used during the hostilities in Bosnia and Kosovo.

The armored personnel carrier weighing more than 13 tons has wide tracks, thanks to which it creates less pressure on the soil than a tractor. This allows the armored vehicle to move on difficult off-road, soft and loose soils, in particular, on swamps and sands, as well as to overcome water obstacles.

The Swedish armored personnel carrier was armed with a 20-mm Hispano-Suiza automatic cannon, which was also installed on aircraft.

The Swedish PbV 302s also have additional armor reinforcement with an internal anti-splinter lining and external ceramic elements. The frontal armor can withstand a direct hit from a 20 mm projectile.

The tracked Swedish armored personnel carrier has a diesel engine with a capacity of 270 horsepower, which accelerates the combat vehicle to a speed of more than 60 kilometers per hour.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier in August, the Ministry of Defense codified and approved the Buffalo MPV armored engineering vehicle for delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This armored car is called one of the safest in the world.
