The Verkhovna Rada will consider the bill on banning the activities of religious institutions associated with russia at the next meeting.
This was announced by the Speaker of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk during the telethon, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"The consideration of the bill (regarding the activities of religious organizations in Ukraine) will take place at the next meeting of the Verkhovna Rada... The russian Church in Ukraine will be banned, and this is a clear provision provided for in Article 3 of this bill," the Speaker said.
According to him, the bill provides that an examination will be conducted in relation to those religious organizations that exist in Ukraine and in respect of which there is a suspicion of some kind of affiliation or cooperation with the russian Orthodox Church, and it is the experts who will say whether there is a sign of affiliation.
He said that if signs of affiliation with the russian federation are found, a decision will be submitted to terminate the organization's activities, which will be challenged in a court of law.
Stefanchuk also assured that after blocking the work of the parliament due to consideration of this bill, it was significantly revised.
"It's good that there was time to bring it to a certain level of perfection, because there are a lot of amendments, primarily of a legal nature, that we managed to implement in order to make this bill work, because the worst thing about an issue about which there is great expectation in society is to hastily adopt an imperfect law that will not work. For me, the fact that we managed to work out is a reason for a certain optimism - the bill will be of better quality than it was before," said the head of the Verkhovna Rada.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada's committee on humanitarian and information policy again recommends to the parliament to adopt in the second reading the bill on banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
