Overnight into Saturday, August 17, russian troops launched 14 Shahed-131/136 attack drones over the territory of Ukraine, and in the morning, they hit the city of Sumy with an Iskander-K cruise missile, the air defense forces destroyed all 14 enemy drones.
This follows from a statement by the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
It is noted that the enemy launched 14 Shahed missiles from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Yeysk, and Kursk Oblasts (russia) and Iskander-K missiles from the Voronezh Oblast.
"All 14 Shaheds were shot down by the calculations of the mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, and EW means of the Air Force," the message says.
Anti-aircraft defense worked in Mykolayiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv Regions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, overnight into August 16, the russians attacked the territory of Ukraine with three Iskander-M ballistic missiles, three Shahed-type attack UAVs, and two unmanned aerial vehicles of an unknown type, and the air defense forces managed to shoot down all five drones.
