AFU attempted to launch military operation in Belgorod Oblast, but they were expected there — media

The Ukrainian military planned to advance in the Belgorod Oblast, but faced resistance from the russians. In the Kursk Oblast, the russian federation was unprepared for an attack, so the Armed Forces quickly advanced deep into the region.

The Washington Post reports this with reference to its sources.

It is claimed that the Ukrainian military was located along the russian border for a month and crossed it in the area of the village of Kolotilovka, Belgorod Oblast. However, the russian army there was ready for the arrival of the Ukrainians. Also, the territory was heavily mined and fortified with dragon's teeth anti-tank obstacles. The Ukrainian military came under fire from artillery and drones.

Some units of the Armed Forces managed to advance deep into the Belgorod Oblast for approximately 9 kilometers and occupy the abandoned positions of the russian troops. But intense fighting continues there, so the military has to constantly hide in trenches and wait for several days for evacuation.

A few days before, the Ministry of Reintegration of Ukraine announced the temporary closure of the Kolotilovka - Pokrovka humanitarian corridor.
