AFU expanding zone of control in Kursk Oblast despite russian statements about alleged stabilization of the front - ISW

The defense forces of Ukraine are likely to continue to expand the zone of control in the Kursk Oblast of the aggressor country of russia, despite the latest statements of russian propagandists about the alleged stabilization of the front.

This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

According to ISW analysts, on August 11, several russian military bloggers immediately announced a decrease in the offensive activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk Oblast.

However, the following week, a former employee of the press service of the ministry of defense of the russian federation, Mikhail Zvinchuk (the author of the Rybar Telegram channel), denied these statements. According to him, russian troops are far from stabilizing the situation in the region.

The ISW noted that several russian bloggers recently announced that the AFU allegedly carried out a number of new attacks in the areas of Slobidka-Ivanivka, Tyotkine, Gordiivka, Uspenka, and Viktorivka.

At the same time, according to some bloggers, the Ukrainian military allegedly managed to capture Slobidka-Ivanivka, Uspenivka, and Viktorivka.

They also claim that the AFU are trying to attack the south and north of the village of Koreneve. Probably, the Ukrainian military wants to bypass the settlement where the russians maintain their defenses.

ISW analysts said that they managed to geolocate the footage of several videos published on the network, according to which the Armed Forces were advancing at once in several places at a distance of 27-30 kilometers from the border.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 12, the governor of the Kursk Oblast, Alexey Smirnov, reported to the dictator Vladimir Putin that during the week of fighting, the AFU took control of 28 settlements in the region.

Due to the offensive of the Armed Forces, the authorities of the Kursk Oblast are going to evacuate 180,000 residents of the Kursk Oblast, which is 20% of the population of the region.
