Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, member of the parliamentary committee on human rights Serhii Kozyr said that in Ukraine they plan to launch a hotline for military personnel, where they can report violations of their rights or wrongful actions of commanders.
He said this in an interview with Ukrinform, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"We are working on creating a hotline where the military can turn to with their problems, including cases of violation of rights or wrongful actions by commanders. This will help us better understand the essence of issues that may require legislative intervention," said Serhii Kozyr.
According to him, the adoption of such a law will reduce the risk of abuse and increase the level of discipline in the army.
According to him, all appeals will be carefully processed.
Kozyr noted that the legislation on holding the military command accountable for committed offenses will be specific, taking into account the specifics of military service.
"Commanders, knowing that their actions are under constant control, will be more responsible towards their duties," the MP added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill on appeals in the first reading.
