Zelenskyy signs law on responsibility for petty theft and introduction of fines

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed the law on responsibility for petty theft of other people's property and regulation of some other issues of law enforcement activities.

This is stated in the card of bill No. 11068, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The decriminalization of petty thefts, the threshold of which started at UAH 300, is foreseen.

The law raises the threshold for qualifying petty theft up to UAH 3,000, and also strengthens administrative responsibility for petty theft:

ADVERTISING

- for theft up to UAH 757 – a fine from UAH 850 to UAH 1,700;

- for theft from UAH 758 to UAH 3,028 – a fine of UAH 1,700 to UAH 5,100;

- for a repeat - from UAH 8,500 to UAH 17,000.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada intends to strengthen responsibility for the illegal circulation of excise goods.

It is proposed to introduce administrative liability for trade in beer (except non-alcoholic), alcoholic and low-alcohol beverages, tobacco products, liquids used in electronic cigarettes without state registration as a business entity or without obtaining a permit document.
