Opening of railway in Mariupol will allow russia to shorten logistics route by 300 km Andriushchenko

Petro Andriushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, spoke about the opening of the railway station in the city. According to him, the launch of freight trains is technically ready, which will allow the enemy to shorten the logistical route by almost 300 km.

He said this on the air of the telethon.

Thus, earlier Andriushchenko announced the actual start of the Rostov-on-Don - Mariupol railway branch.

"At the moment we are observing locomotives entering and leaving Russia. It is not entirely clear why this is so, but yesterday we saw that the railway station in Mariupol was opened after it was completely destroyed. Only a single diesel train with two cars Mariupol - Volnovakha for civilians has been announced," he said.

According to him, this means that the railway is open again, the engineering works are finished, it is connected.

"In particular, this is confirmed by our information, and it also confirms that no civilian railway will be used," he added.

Andriushchenko also noted that freight trains are expected to arrive in Mariupol in the next few days.

"There is some reason, unknown to us, why the Russians have not yet launched a freight train, but they will definitely launch it, at least technically everything is ready there. When it happens, it will solve the issue of logistics for the Russians very radically, especially in view of Kurakhove, in view of Volnovakha - this is a minus of almost 300 km of the journey," said the advisor to the mayor of Mariupol.

He emphasized that depending on what they are transporting, russians will save from a day to a week.

"This is quite a strong decision, it is actually a logistical breakthrough. And today we can say that the Russians themselves have overcome the dependence of the Russians on the Crimea bridge by building this alternative way of providing for their entire group located in the south of Ukraine. And this is a very bad story,” Andriushchenko concluded.

Today, August 1, the Mariupol City Council reported that the occupiers opened the railway station in Mariupol, and a unique mosaic panel was destroyed during dismantling.

"The occupants of Mariupol do not inform where it will be possible to go from the station. It is possible that it will be used for military purposes in general, to transport military equipment," the message reads.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said that the railway that russia is building to connect with the occupied south of Ukraine could pose a serious problem.
