President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the main goal of the russians today, after they failed to occupy Kharkiv, is Pokrovsk in the Donetsk Region.
Zelenskyy said this in an interview with representatives of the French mass media, answering a question about the possibility of the russians taking Sloviansk, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"The whole east is difficult. The main goal for today, after they failed to (take) Kharkiv and we understand that it will not succeed, the main goal has changed. Their direction is generally the east, Sloviansk is no exception, but Pokrovsk, I would say, is a priority for them today. Pokrovsk axis and the city of Pokrovsk. After all, Kostiantynivka is also there, after all, they aim at Toretsk, after all, they want and have plans for Sloviansk, but these are all plans. Today, they are concentrating the largest number of personnel, the largest number of weapons and guided aerial bombs and everything they have on the Pokrovsk axis," he said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that in order to confront the russians, Ukraine needs the timely supply of weapons by its Western partners and the strengthening of air defense.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy cited the insufficient level of support of the Ukrainian army from Western partners as one of the reasons that allow the russian occupation army to achieve success on the front line. Thus, according to him, only 3 brigades out of 14 in the Ukrainian reserve are equipped with a sufficient amount of weapons and equipment.
