On Monday, July 29, in Great Britain, two children were killed and nine people were wounded as a result of a knife attack on a dance class dedicated to the work of Taylor Swift. The teenage suspect was arrested.
This is reported by CNN.
The police reported that six wounded children are in critical condition, and two adults are also in critical condition. It is indicated that the attacker entered the premises, armed with a knife, and began to attack the children.
"We believe that the adults who were wounded bravely tried to protect the children who were attacked," the police spokeswoman said.
So, police received reports of a massacre in Southport, north of Liverpool. Emergency services were called to a "serious incident" in the city at around 11.50 a.m. local time. A 17-year-old guy was arrested at the scene on "suspicion of murder and attempted murder."
"The investigation is at an early stage and the motivation behind the incident remains unclear. However, the North West Counter-Terrorism Police have offered their support," the police said.
Earlier, the police said that the incident was not considered to be related to terrorism.
Local businessman Colin Parry, who was one of those who called police, said the incident in Southport was like "a scene from a horror movie".
According to information on the studio's website, at the time of the attack, the studio was hosting a Taylor Swift-themed yoga and dance class for children between the ages of 6 and 11.
"It looks like something out of America, not sunny Southport," Parry said.
King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, said they were "deeply shocked" by the incident. The couple also expressed their "heartfelt condolences" to "the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives so tragically" and to all those affected by the incident.
The Prince and Princess of Wales also released a statement thanking the rescuers and sending their "love, thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this horrific and disgusting attack".
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also reacted to the events, saying in a video message, which was shown to TV channels, that "the whole country" was "deeply shocked by what they saw" in Southport.
