US handing Ukraine new packages of weapons. What will AFU receive

The U.S. Department of Defense has announced additional security assistance to meet Ukraine's critical security and defense needs.

This is stated in the message of the U.S. Department of Defense on Monday, July 29.

The package of up to USD 200 million under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) consists of air defense equipment, artillery ammunition for HIMARS, mortar shells, Javelin anti-tank missiles.

Besides, the Pentagon also announced a USD 1.5 billion package within the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).

The capabilities in this announcement include:

  • munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS);
  • short- and medium-range air defense munitions;
  • RIM-7 air defense missiles;
  • electronic warfare equipment;
  • ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);
  • 155mm and 105mm artillery shells;
  • 120mm mortar shells;
  • high-precision aerial munitions;
  • Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) missiles;
  • Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems;
  • small arms;
  • explosives material and demolitions equipment and munitions;
  • secure communication systems;
  • commercial satellite imagery services;
  • spare parts, maintenance and sustainment support, and other ancillary equipment.

"The United States will continue to work together with some 50 Allies and partners to ensure Ukraine's brave defenders receive the critical capabilities needed to fight Russian aggression," the Pentagon said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Germany and Denmark handed Ukraine a new package of military aid.
