Court confiscates millions worth of assets of SBI official

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has recognized as unfounded the assets registered to the relatives of the deputy head of the Central Office of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) Andrii Chapchai and his wife Yulia Apolonina, and confiscated them.

Such a decision was made by the HACC, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The wife of the SBI official holds the position of a prosecutor of a department of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

This is about the confiscation of an apartment that was purchased in 2020 in Kyiv for almost UAH 3.8 million and registered to the wife's grandmother (the apartment is located in the "French Quarter 2" residential complex).

We are also talking about the confiscation of a car space purchased in the same period for UAH 700,000 and registered to the wife's aunt, as well as part of the cost of an apartment in the amount of UAH 2.5 million from UAH 2.8 million in Kyiv, registered to the same aunt.

The assets were confiscated into state revenue.

Chapchai previously held the position of an acting head of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the State Department of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv, and later worked in the National Police.

After that, he got a job at the SBI.
