Next Rada meeting will begin with consideration of ban of UOC MP - Stefanchuk

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced that the next session of the parliament will begin with consideration of the bill on banning the russian church.

He told about this in an interview with Ukrainian News Agency.

"We are starting the next meeting with the consideration of this bill. And this would be the position of the vast majority of factions and groups. I think that it is fair that we should put an end to this issue," this is how he answered the question when the Verkhovna Rada will consider the bill on banning the russian church.

According to him, the bill was too changed before the second reading and was not at all similar to the version that was adopted in the first reading.

"An absolutely new concept. An absolutely new vision. That's why some MPs absolutely rightly say: "we voted in the first reading for one thing, and for the second reading something incomprehensible was prepared for us." For two days, my colleagues will confirm, personally, as a lawyer, I walked through the entire text of this law," explained Stefanchuk about the bill, which was prepared for the second reading.

The speaker of the parliament personally found a lot of legal inaccuracies in the text of the bill, which will later affect court proceedings.

Stefanchuk assures that the bill will be put to a vote as soon as the document is ready and the MPs will familiarize themselves with it.

"We don't just need to adopt some law and tell society: "that's it, we adopted it". We need to adopt a law that will work. Because the worst thing is if we adopt a law and it doesn't work, then there will be a claim against us. What kind of junk did you adopt? Why can't we exercise our rights? And that's why it seems to me that it is very important to come up with a legally perfect bill, and secondly, to implement it in accordance with all applicable procedures," stressed the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada will concentrate on finalizing the bill on the banning of the russian church in Ukraine for as soon as possible introduction and voting in the session hall.
