Electricity situation improving, most difficult period of summer behind – Kudrytskyi

The electricity situation has now improved. There is every reason to expect that the most difficult period of summer is behind us.

Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the chairman of the board of NEC Ukrenergo, announced this at a briefing on Friday, July 26.

"We have every reason to expect that the most difficult period of the summer is behind us. We went through a very difficult couple of weeks and now the situation has really improved. This is due, first of all, to the fact that the absolutely abnormal, record-breaking heat has finally subsided. And so - electricity consumption has decreased," said Kudrytskyi.

According to him, certain energy-generating capacities were also released from the repair, which added capacity and reduced the deficit. Thanks to this, 1-2 queues of power outages are currently applied, and in some hours it makes it possible to cancel restrictions. Kudrytskyi said that if there is no new large-scale damage to the power plants, the situation will improve in the next few weeks.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the executive director of DTEK, Dmytro Sakharuk, said that it will be easier for Ukrainians to get through the coming winter if everyone somehow prepares for it.

On July 14, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, announced that the power supply situation should improve on July 20.

Also, Ukrenergo explained why electricity is turned off for different number of hours for household consumers in different regions.
