Energoatom replaces South Ukraine NPP director after emergency situation

The Energoatom Nuclear Energy Generating Company has appointed Viacheslav Stoianov as the director of the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant (South Ukraine NPP, Mykolaiv Region) instead of Ihor Polovych.

The South Ukraine NPP has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"From July 25, Viacheslav Stoianov was transferred to the position of the director general of the Separate Subdivision “South Ukraine NPP” branch. The previous head of the enterprise, Ihor Polovych, was transferred to the position of the executive director for production and repairs of JSC NNEGC Energoatom," the message reads.

For the past two years, Stoianov has worked as a chief engineer - first deputy director general of the Rivne NPP branch.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed the emergency situation at the South Ukraine NPP last week.

The South Ukraine NPP has 3 power units of the VVER-1000 type with a total installed electrical capacity of about 3 GW.
