On the night of July 26, the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Saky airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea, which the russian federation used for air attacks. Information about the consequences is being clarified.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to destroy the military infrastructure of the russian invaders. Tonight, units of the missile forces units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the Saky airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea in a joint plan," the message reads.
It is indicated that this is one of the operational airfields that russia uses to control the airspace, in particular the water area of the Black Sea, and to carry out air strikes on Ukrainian territory.
The General Staff added that information on the consequences of the strike is being clarified.
"It is important to note that the airfield was covered by "modern" russian air defense equipment, which once again failed to protect an important military facility of the russian federation," the agency emphasizes.
It is emphasized that the joint combat work of all components of the Defense Forces on important goals of the armed forces of the russian federation will continue.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Crimean pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel Crimean Wind stated that as a result of an air attack in the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Saky military airfield in Novofedorivka caught fire, and during the night the detonation of ammunition was heard.
